About the Band

The Learned Doctors is a collection of Maryland musicians who, above all else, love to play music, and love to create a good time for everyone around. Our philosophy is to take the performance seriously, take the execution of the music seriously, but not take ourselves too seriously along the way. If the audience and the hosts are happy, we’re happy!

While we come from diverse musical backgrounds, we’ve found that our sweet spot is classic 90’s jams, although we have an extensive catalog ranging from 60’s classics through contemporary music. We love being able to pull off song requests, and will typically attempt most requests we know well enough to sing. If you’re ailing for a fun, energetic party band, we’re just what the Doctor ordered!

  • Christian Harper

    GUITAR/VOCALS

Christian brings the rock and roll edge to the band that keeps things lively. Christian’s vocal skills and versatility allow the band to cover an extensive range of songs—not to mention his solid lead and rhythm guitar playing. The guy makes it look easy!

On top of his contributions to the band, Christian also owns and operates a professional sound company and recording studio, Tone Town Productions. If you’ve got live performance or studio needs, he’s your man! Follow him @christianbharper

  • Scott Blecman

    BASS/VOCALS

Scott is our audience engagement extraordinaire, chief of the low end, and guardian of the groove. He loves to keep the crowd laughing, keep the songs bumpin’, and help the band shine with tight rhythm and vocal harmony. (He also does a lot of our booking!)

Scott performs and does studio work with several acts in the area, and is always game to talk shop about musicianship and gear! You can follow him @PocketScottMusic or on Facebook

  • Chris Compton

    DRUMS/VOCALS

Chris rounds out the power trio with a mighty drum presence and silky smooth vocals. As the newest member of the band he’s the icing on the musical cake, and his musical talents extend to just about any instrument he puts his hands on (trumpet, keys, guitar, you name it!)

Chris is also a professional music teacher, recording engineer/producer, and works with several other musical acts. Follow Chris @chriscomptonmusic, or check out his website!
